Purpose and Objectives

Constitution of the South African Chamber of Business in Mozambique (SACBM)


The South African Chamber of Business in Mozambique (SACBM) functions as an overarching organization and conduit for trade, community engagement, and investment into and out of South Africa. SACBM strives to consolidate efforts, providing a forum and meeting point for businesses interested in both Mozambique and South Africa to foster the development of diverse business opportunities.

Our Vision:

To be the ONE voice and preeminent business chamber organisation for South African Business in Mozambique, by offering superior value to its members, stakeholders, lobbies for and represents the collective interests.

Our Mission:

Our mission is to effectively protect and promote the interests of business.

Constitutional Objectives:
The constitutional objectives of SACBM are outlined as follows:

1.Common Management Agreement:
   - Unify current South African business-focused organizations under a common management agreement, promoting knowledge sharing, information exchange, and logistical management efficiencies.

2.Member Advice:
   - Offer advice to members regarding the operation of their businesses as needed or appropriate.

3.Unified Voice:
   - Provide a united voice when dealing with government bodies and private sector groups, both in South Africa and Mozambique.

4.Training Opportunities:
   - Provide training opportunities for members in all aspects of business, with particular emphasis on operating businesses in South Africa and Mozambique.

5.Central Administrative Body:
   - Establish a central body for the administration, research, lobbying, and support of sub-committees and associated bodies with specific interests in SA-Moz business.

6.Business Promotion:
   - Provide a forum to promote business opportunities between members.

7.Proactive Facilitation:
   - Proactively facilitate business introductions.

Organizations and Activities:
SACBM consolidates various activities under one management structure, including those offered by the SA Business Club, the Breakfast Indaba, Trade missions, SA Business Awards, Mamba Mentors, Board member events, white papers, research, open letters to government, training activities, and various ad-hoc events set up by the Executive Committee and Secretariat.

Governance:
SACBM is governed by the Executive Committee and Chairperson, elected at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) by its members. The administration is managed by the secretariat. The Executive Committee takes direction and leadership on content and strategy from the Board, consisting of Corporate Members with a significant stake in SACBM's running. SACBM operates as a member-funded organization.

Government Buy-In:
The establishment of SACBM has been ratified by the South African Government and the South African High Commissioner in Mozambique. SACBM is also proudly supported by the South African Department of Trade and Industry (SA DTI) and Mozambican Trade and Investment (MTI).
